Overview

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a licensed Embalmer/ Funeral Director to work with our dedicated staff to serve the families who choose Hillside. This position is responsible for successfully providing a full range of embalming, restorative and reconstruction processes to prepare the deceased for funeral services. This position will also be responsible for assisting and leading chapel and graveside services.

The ideal candidate must possess a valid California Embalmer’s License though a funeral director’s license in combination with an embalmer’s license is preferred. The ideal candidate must be skilled at dressing and cosmetizing decedents that are embalmed, in addition to those that are not embalmed. The ideal candidate must be skilled at recreating multiple hairstyles and be willing to learn Jewish funeral customs and traditions. This position also works closely with vendors and maintains a clean, neat and orderly preparation, Tahara and storage area. This role also works closely with other Hillside staff and external resources such as rabbis and others involved with the funeral service. A strong comfort level with grieving families is a must. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to telephone coverage, word-processing and other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate must possess an active California embalmer’s license, though an active funeral director’s license in combination with an active embalmer’s license is preferred.
A minimum of one year of experience as a licensed embalmer, with a focus on hair and makeup, is required.

This position must be able to work an 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. This position is off on Sundays and Mondays.
