Overview

The Director of Funeral Science serves as both an instructor and program director. In addition to the duties in this job description, the Funeral Science Instructor job description applies. The director of the Funeral Science Program is responsible for the continued development, implementation, promotion, and daily operation of both the traditional and distance education components of the program. Minimum qualifications include bachelor’s degree with the ability to complete a master’s degree within five years of the hire date, a current funeral director/embalmer license, and a graduate of an institution of Funeral Service Education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Ten years experience as a licensed funeral director/embalmer and three years of traditional and/or teaching at the community college level is preferred.
